T-Ball Trophy Ceremony

Friday was the trophy ceremony and oficial 'end of season' of T-Ball. It was nothing fancy, all the teams gathered together in the field and the trophys were handed individually to each player by their coach.

Here are a few pictures of the event.

Sunday at ChuckE.Cheese's

Just a couple of pictures and a very funny video from our trip to Chuck E Cheese's for Michelle's Birthday Party this weekend. We had only been there once when Carter was 2 years old and we didn't have a good time back then. Now, two years later, the kids really enjoyed this place.

PS: Sorry, the video isn't uploading...
PD: Disculpas, pero el video no carga...

The Horse Experience...

This past saturday our playgroup was scheduled for a visit to Sunny Reigns Stables. The kids had been awaiting this day for a month and they were so excited! This is a new Stable and they were very happy to host their first Fundraiser Event with our group.
When we arrived a few volunteer girls gave us a little presentation about horses. What they eat and how they groom them. They let all the kids pet some of the horses in the barn and then we were off to the sunny outdoors for a little ride (kids don't care that it's noon and 102 degrees with no shade anywhere around).
Carter really enjoyed it, but Maya LOOOOVED it! She was mesmerized with them. Could not get her eyes off the animal and she had the happiest and most genuine smile I have ever seen on her. I love this picture here, it shows exactly how she felt and how big those horses must have looked to their eyes. My thought at the time was: Forget about dance, gymnastics or even soccer... lets get this girl on a horse! After all, she does have it in her blood (from both sides of the family).

Memorial Weekend at Jordan Lake

"Only crazy people would go camping to Jordan Lake on a holiday weekend"... Well, I guess we fit that description allright.
I could try to summarize our camping trip by naming just a few things we encountered. 4 ticks, 1 snake, 1 black widdow... However this fun-filled weekend deserves better.
Let's start by saying that the above quotation is entirely true! If you do not like crowds and you can't stand camping-ethiquete-uneducated people, you should not attempt this.
Jordan Lake State Recreation area is just SW of Raleigh and aproximately 2.5 hrs from home. It hosts several (I think 7) campgrounds for a total of 1050 camping sites. Last year, to our great surprise, we arrived there too late and the park was completly full. So this year we did our best to sneak out early and try to beat the crowd... yeah right! After waiting in line for 45 minutes (6th in line of 20 some) and seeing how the park ranger would come out saying: I found 2 more! Then 2 more... we acquired rights to the 2nd to last of 1050 sites! As uneven and badly located as it was, we were very greatful to have gotten so lucky!
Certainly, we could have strangled the little pooch at the site right over, who would bark incesantly every minute he was left alone (this happened regularly at nap time) or the group of oriental neighbors on the other side (15 of them) who would walk right thru the middle of our site to get to the water spiket. But oh... it is all forgotten once you slide the marshmellows down the carved twig and slowly heat them over the fire. That's the good life!
Sunday we went canoeing at a small park called William B Umbstead that we had discovered last year... lovely park and very family friendly. We had a great time and saw lots of wildlife: cranes, turtles, fish, ducks, snakes (well, just one). Then after nap we went swimming at the lake, the kids really enjoyed this and were very happy to play in the water without being knocked down by the waves.
Camping is always fun for us... we enjoy the time we spend together and realize how much we appreciate the family life.
